If, like us, you are a total nerd when it comes to the Alien films, then Colonial Marines will be worth playing just for the satisfaction of shouting “GAME OVER, MAN! GAME OVERR!!” as the credits roll. That said, it should offer some treats on top of that. Alongside the classic xenomorph-busting weapons – including pulse rifles, flamethrowers and sentry turrets – you get a butane torch to weld doors shut and, most importantly, a stout pair of legs with which to run away. You’ll need them, thanks to the new breeds of acid-blooded aliens and even more desperate situations. Just remember: they mostly come out at night. Mostly.
